To everyone who has been part of our story,
As we celebrate Riverworks’ 20th anniversary, we’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the journey that brought us here. What keeps coming to mind isn’t the milestones. It’s the people. More than anything, we simply want to say thank you.
Twenty years ago, Jackie opened the doors to Riverworks Design with a name, a handful of clients, and a lot of ideas. Three years later, Steve joined the company, and everything changed.
In the fall of 2009, we attended a digital marketing conference in Las Vegas and came home convinced that digital marketing was the future. We renamed the company Riverworks Marketing, a decision that shaped everything that followed.
That trip gave us more than a new direction as it introduced us to an incredible network of agency owners across the country. Many have become trusted friends, clients, sounding boards, and mentors over the years. Their generosity, encouragement, and willingness to share what they had learned helped us grow in ways we’ll never forget.
From there, Riverworks grew one client, one employee, and one opportunity at a time. We hired our first employee in 2010, opened our first office that same year, grew to a team of seven by 2012, and in 2013 we purchased the building on Notre Dame Avenue that we still proudly call home in 2026.
Today, our team is 15 strong, and we can honestly say we have one of the best teams we’ve ever had. They are talented, positive, caring people who genuinely enjoy helping our clients succeed.
We’re also grateful to be one of Chattanooga’s longer-standing digital marketing agencies. Over the past 20 years, we’ve watched marketing evolve from brochure websites and early search engines to social media, Google Ads, SEO, and now AI-powered search. One thing has remained constant: our commitment to learning, adapting, and helping our clients succeed. We’re thankful every day that we still get to do work we genuinely love.
Through all that change, one thing has mattered more than anything else: the people.
It’s the clients who trusted us with their businesses, many for 10, 15, and even nearly 20 years. More than 750 businesses have allowed us to be part of their journey. Every one has taught us something along the way, and we hope we’ve made as much of an impact on their businesses as they’ve made on ours.
It’s the teammates, past and present, who built Riverworks into what it is today. Together we’ve celebrated birthdays, carved pumpkins, bowled a few questionable games, taken road trips to watch a total solar eclipse, shared countless lunches, brainstormed around conference tables, solved impossible deadlines, and laughed through more inside jokes than we can count. Every person who has worked here has left a mark on this company. Even Bernie, our beloved Barketing Director since 2015, has been cheering us on every step of the way.
We’re also proud of what we’ve accomplished together. We became a Google Partner in 2015 and, just two years later, were invited to an exclusive Google Ads conference in Atlanta as one of only 20 agencies from across the Southeast. Those moments were exciting, but what made them meaningful was sharing them with an incredible team and amazing clients.
We’re equally grateful for the community that’s surrounded us over the past 20 years. Giving back has always been an important part of who we are. Through DECA, the Chattanooga State Technical College Advisory Board, food drives for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, the Chambliss Center for Children, and many other organizations, we’ve been fortunate to invest in a city that has given so much to us. Seeing a few Chattanooga State graduates eventually become valued members of our own team has been an especially rewarding part of that journey.
None of this happens without you.
Every client who believed in us.
Every employee who helped build this culture one relationship, one project, and one laugh at a time.
Every friend, partner, and community member who’s supported Riverworks throughout the years.
Looking back, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built and even more grateful for who we’ve built it with.
Thank you to every client, employee, friend, partner, and supporter who’s been part of the Riverworks story. You’ve made the last 20 years more meaningful than we ever could have imagined.
The marketing world will continue to change, just as it always has, and we’re excited to keep learning, adapting, and growing alongside you.
We can’t wait to see what we’ll build together next.
With gratitude,
Jackie & Steve
